Hi, y'all!
The morning after Timmonsville High School's Class of 1967 50-year reunion, a friend took me on a guided tour of Timmonsville to show me what it has become. It reminded me of Dante's Inferno, in which the Greek Poet Virgil took Dante on a guided tour of hell. After giving it some thought, I wrote down a few ideas on what it will take to transform Timmonsville into an attractive little town again. It can't be done by a few people at the top throwing money at it. It has to be done from the bottom up and from the inside out.
Some of y'all may say that it's hopeless. Actually, it's hopeless only if nobody does anything.
From the other side of the world, all I can do is comment, answer questions, and ask a few of my own. We can also pray.

The Village I Remember is a book about Timmonsville and Florence, South Carolina. Carl L. Poston Jr., the author, was inspired to write this book after he wrote a family history for his children and other descendants. The great memories that he recollected of his childhood and the people he knew growing up led him to share his experiences of growing up with a close family and close neighbors in a book.
