A graduate of McLeod Infirmary Nursing School as an RN in 1950, she was a long and active member of the First Baptist Church of Florence, SC. She worked with Dr. Julian Price as a nurse and then later as a public health nurse in Florence, Clarendon, and Darlington Counties. She received her BS Degree in Nursing in 1964 from her beloved University of South Carolina.

Often seen dressed in garnet and black colors, she was a faithful follower of Gamecock football. She also taught vocational nursing classes at Timmonsville High School.

She expanded by starting Sid’s Wholesale distributing to retail florist throughout the Pee Dee. She belonged to two Garden Clubs and often received awards for her floral arrangements. She was often heard saying she was happiest when she had her hands in the dirt. She truly had a green thumb.
