Hazel Jean Truluck Perry, was 92 when she died peacefully at home in Florence on February 10, 2014. Hazel was the second born child to the late Eugene David Truluck and the late Edna Gowdy Moore Truluck. She was born March 8, 1921 in Sumter County, SC.

Hazel is predeceased by her husband of 62 years, Lee Roy (Perry) Perry, her sister, Grace Milicent Bradley, her brother Eugene David Truluck Jr., and her granddaughter Chelsea Truluck Allen.

Hazel is survived by her 95 year old sister, Orilla Marguerite Truluck Dowling, her daughter Linda Truluck Perry Allen and her husband, Dr. Robert (Bob) Johnson Allen; her son, Dr. Lee Roy (L.R) Perry Jr. and his wife, Diane Hill Perry of Florence.

She leaves seven grandchildren: Julia Marshall Allen, Dr. Robert Johnson (Kelley Anne) Allen Jr., James Perry Allen, Celeste Blackwell Allen, Anna Truluck Perry, Louis Tyler Perry, Margaret Wicker Perry, and a great grandson Daniel Patterson Allen. Also a special niece Brenda Bradley Davis of Holly Hill, SC.

Hazel graduated from Sherwood High School in Lynchburg SC in 1938, she completed comptometer training in Atlanta, GA and subsequently worked for the mail order division of Sears and Roebuck, where she met the love of her life Lee Roy Perry.

Hazel and Lee Roy Perry were married in the First Baptist Church of Florence on July 5,1945. Hazel has been a member of First Baptist Church for almost three quarters of a century. She taught Sunday School there for many years. Hazel loved bridge, she was an active member of two Florence bridge clubs and the Florence Garden Club.

Hazel and Perry had made their home in Timmonsville during the 70's when they purchased Cale Yarborough's house on US Highway 76 east of Timmonsville. Many may also remember this as the the old Scarborough home. The Perrys enjoyed the old stately home and entertained there regularly. Hazel was a wonderful hostess.

When Perry's health declined they made the decision to sell their Timmonsville home and return to Florence. This made life easier for Hazel. She loved her home and quiet neighborhood where her life centered on family, friends, music and Jesus Christ.

The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 PM on Friday, February 14, 2014 at Waters Powell Funeral Home, 400 South Dargan Street, Florence.

A celebration of life service will be held at First Baptist Church Florence at 11:00 AM on Saturday, February 15th with an entombment service to follow at Mt. Hope Cemetery Mausoleum.

Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church at 300 South Irby Street, Florence, SC 29501.

The family requests that you please designate memorials to the restoration of the church organ.
