William Leroy "Bill" Bochette, 1943-2014

William Leroy "Bill" Bochette was 70 when he went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, March 5, 2014, at McLeod Hospice House.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm on Friday, March 7, 2014 at the 
Stoudenmire-Dowling funeral home.

Bill was born in Darlington County, and raised in Lamar,SC. Many in Lamar knew him as W.L. He was a son of the late Marion Bochette and Daisy Dowdy Bochette.

Bill was very active in his community, as he was a faithful member of Florence Baptist Temple for thirty-nine years, he served as a Bus Captain, a Deacon, and a Sunday School Teacher.

Because he loved sports and the Christian School, he was always ready to support the athletic programs. He was an active member of the Booster Club at Florence Christian School.

Mr. Bochette was a 1961 graduate of Lamar High School and later attended the University of South Carolina, where he received his Bachelor Degree in Business Administration in 1971. 

Bill was a veteran having served his country in the US Navy.

He retired from Smurfit-Stone Container and later was a greeter at Chick-Fil-A, which he thoroughly enjoyed.

Surviving is his devoted wife, of fifty years, Priscilla Hill Bochette; Priscilla haled from Lamar as well. Bill and Priscilla were the proud parents of  three children who mourn his passing. They are, Brad (Cathi) Bochette of Savannah, GA, 
Tracy (John) Brown  and Clay (Carrie) Bochette, both of Florence.

He was affectionately known as "DiDiDa" by his six grandchildren: Chapin Bochette, Caroline Bochette, Camryn Bochette, Brooke Brown, Ashlyn Bochette and Clayton Bochette.

Also surviving are his brother, Don Bochette of Eutawville, SC, his sister, Linda (Wayne) Wolfe of Smith Mountain Lake, Virginia, an aunt, Pearlie Mae Benton, uncle Charles (Georgie) Dowdy, and a number of cousins, nieces and nephews.

Burial will follow at Byrd Cemetery in Timmonsville directed by Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home.
